Kim Kardashian‘s ex-husband, Kris Humphries, is under fire on Twitter for tweeting a message of “support” for Bruce Jenner that many perceived as an insult to the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” reality star who came out as transgender during a “20/20” interview with Diane Sawyer on Friday.

“Man, I’m glad I got out when I did,” Humphries, an NBA player who divorced Kardashian after 72 days of matrimony, tweeted on Friday night with the hashtag, #Gottadoyou.

The tweet, which has been shared nearly 10,000 times on Twitter, sparked instant backlash from people responding with insults including “piece of shit,” “you’re irrelevant,” and much, much worse.

Humphries, who was married to Kardashian for just 72 days, updated his Twitter feed on Saturday to apologize for the tweet he called “too vague,” and insisted it was intended as a message of support for Jenner.

The public doesn’t appear to actually believe the Washington Wizards player, though.
