Bryan Cranston Plays Blacklisted Screenwriter in ‘Trumbo’ First Trailer (Video)

Film also stars Helen Mirren, Diane Lane and Elle Fanning

Bryan Cranston appears as successful Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo who is accused of being a Communist in the 1940s and blacklisted by the film industry in the new trailer for “Trumbo.”

The trailer highlights Trumbo’s tenacious nature; the writer’s passion for filmmaking continued amidst the accusations even though studios didn’t want his name on their credits.

The film also stars Elle Fanning, Diane Lane, Helen Mirren, John Goodman and Louis C.K. It is directed by Jay Roach, who is also producer on the upcoming Tina Fey and Amy Poehler movie “Sisters.”

John McNamara wrote the screenplay based on Bruce Cook’s book, and executive producers include Kelly Mullen and Kevin Brown, who is known for “Fight Club.” Bleecker Street is distributing.

The film is set to hit theaters on Nov. 6 in limited theaters.
