Natalie Portman will play Jackie Kennedy in a new biopic, an individual with knowledge of the project has told TheWrap.

“Jackie,” which will be directed by Oscar-nominated Chilean director Pablo Larrain (“No”), will examine the first lady’s life in the four days immediately following President Kennedy’s assassination.

Darren Aronofsky is set to produce. He previously directed Portman to an Oscar win for her performance in his ballet drama “Black Swan.”

Juan de Dios Larrain, of Chilean production company Fabula, will produce along with Scott Franklin of Protozoa Pictures and Aronofsky.

Insiders, the newly launched L.A.-based sales company of the French company Wild Bunch Films, is handling international sales and shopping the script to potential buyers in Cannes. CAA reps the U.S. domestic rights.

“Jackie” is set to go into production at the end of 2015.
