Steve Capus indicates shift in topics for Saturday event

The Democratic presidential debate slated for Saturday will go forward as scheduled in the wake of deadly terror attacks in Paris, according to CBS News.

Steve Capus, CBS News Executive Editor and Evening News Executive Producer, tweeted Friday evening that the event will address the attacks.

The Democratic debate, scheduled for Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa, is set to be broadcast live on CBS. John Dickerson, host of the network’s Sunday-morning public affairs program “Face the Nation,” is slated to moderate the debatte, which will feature candidates Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley.

The debate will be the second for the party’s candidates of the current presidential election.

CBS is partnering for the debate with local station KCCI-TV and the Des Moines Register. The network was the only one of the Big Three broadcasters to extend its evening newscast to one hour Friday evening as news of the attacks unfolded.
