Celine Dion’s brother Daniel Dion has died, just two days after the famous singer’s husband Rene Angelil passed. Both passed following battles with throat cancer. Daniel was 59; Angelil was 73.
The French version of The Huffington Post reported the news of Daniel’s death on Saturday morning, citing a family spokesperson. TheWrap did not immediately hear back from Celine Dion’s reps.
The Las Vegas concert resident had tweeted details for her late husband’s funeral services less than a day ago. Celine Dion has yet to mention her brother’s passing on the social media website.
Daniel Dion was eighth in a family of 14 children. “He was ready and he no longer suffers,” his sister Claudette told Le Journal de Montréal. “It was serene.”
Angelil’s funeral will be held on Jan. 22; Daniel’s will come a few days later. Following her husband’s passing, Celine Dion canceled her Las Vegas Colosseum concerts this weekend.
