In a coma after a car accident that killed her family, Moretz has an out-of-body experience where she sees friends and family gathering around her
Chloe Grace Moretz is a teenager struggling with genuine issues of life and death in the trailer for the Warner Bros. film, “If I Stay.” Based on the young adult novel by Gayle Forman, it is the story of a girl who must decide whether she wants to live or die after a horrific accident kills the rest of her family.
Mia (Moretz) is in a coma after the accident, but she's also having a vivid out-of-body experience. She flashes into her own past, and even experiences friends and family gathering at the hospital in the present. She must choose to either let herself go, or to emerge from her coma into a world where she's lost both of her parents and her brother.
“If I Stay” stars Mireille Enos as Mia's mother, Joshua Leonard as her father, and Jakob Davies as her little brother. Jamie Blackley portrays her boyfriend, while Liana Liberato is her best friend. The film also co-stars Lauren Lee Smith, and Aliyah O'Brien.
The screenplay was written by Shauna Cross and R.J. Cutler, who also directed it. It was produced by Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan, and is a production of New Line Cinema, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and DiNovi Pictures. Warner Bros. will distribute the film to theaters on Friday, August 22.
