Christina Hendricks Joins Showtime Pilot ‘Roadies’

“Mad Men” actress will play a band’s production manager

Christina Hendricks is hitting the road for Showtime.

The “Mad Men” actress has joined the cast of the Showtime pilot “Roadies,” the network said Monday.

The pilot, from Cameron Crowe, follows the day-to-day life of a successful rock tour as seen through the eyes of the crew members who get the show on the road. Hendricks will play Shelli, the band’s production  manager and the ingenious work partner of Bill (Luke Wilson). Shelli is described as tough, but privately emotional, married to her job … and scary-good at it.

In addition to Hendricks and Wilson, the “Roadies” cast also includes Imogen Poots (“The Look of Love”), Rafe Spall (“One Day”), Peter Cambor (“NCIS: Los Angeles”) and Keisha Castle-Hughes (“Whale Rider”).

Crowe wrote and will direct and executive produce the comedy pilot, which is slated to shoot in Vancouver early next year.

Winnie Holzman (“My So-Called Life”) is executive producing and will serve as showrunner. J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (“Lost,” “Fringe”) are also executive producing, with Kathy Lingg co-executive producing.

“Roadies” is produced by is produced by Bad Robot Productions, Vinyl Films and Dooley & Company Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television.
