Sometimes comedy is no laughing matter. Just ask Christina Hendricks.

Hendricks appeared on the panel for Comedy Central’s upcoming raunchy period comedy “Another Period,” and to hear her tell it, the process of making people laugh can be fairly painful at times.

Asked about her wardrobe for the show, which is set in the turn of the century and centers on the Bellacourts, Rhode Island’s first family, Hendricks — no stranger to period dress from her run on “Mad Men” — revealed that donning the clothing of the era wasn’t terribly comfortable.

“I had about six layers of clothes on, so I wouldn’t say I was more relaxed [than in the “Mad Men” wardrobe],” Hendricks offered. “The undergarments are a lot more extensive than I’m used to.”

Cumbersome undies weren’t the only discomfort that Hendricks endured for the shoot. The show, written by Natasha Leggero and “Garfunkel and Oates” veteran Riki Lindhome, is rife with physical comedy, which Hendricks also felt the brunt of.

“I got in a pretty massive catfight that ended in some arm bruises,” Hendricks noted.

“Comedy bruises, though; those don’t hurt,” Lindhome added.

“Another Period,” which Leggero and Lindhome star in and executive produce, premieres this summer.
