Cinedigm has partnered with Drafthouse Films to release the boutique exhibitor’s slate on all home entertainment channels, the companies announced Wednesday.
Drafthouse Films, the distribution arm of Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, is a curated brand of arthouse films from around the globe. It debuted in 2010 with “Four Lions,” followed by “Bullhead” and most recently “The Act of Killing.”
Cinedigm will release the Drafthouse slate on DVD/Blu-ray, broadcast TV, subscription VOD, cable VOD and digital platforms when the partnership begins in 2014. The first release will be a pre-theatrical VOD offering of “Cheap Thrills.”
“We have long been huge fans of the Alamo Drafthouse brand, and since its inception a few years ago, have been continually impressed by the taste and vision of Drafthouse Films,” said Cinedigm Entertainment Group Co-President Susan Margolin.
“It’s exciting to be in partnership with Cinedigm,” said Alamo Drafthouse COO James Emanuel Shapiro. “Its commitment to building the brand through innovation is impressive. The Drafthouse Films team is honored to work with them and we really feel like the sky is the limit!”
