“Comedy Bang! Bang!” is ending after five seasons on IFC.

The series started as a podcast hosted by Scott Aukerman and Reggie Watts. After it proved to be incredibly popular, IFC turned it into a series, featuring talk show-like segments and bizarre, surreal comedy.

Aukerman broke the news on Twitter. “We’ve had a great run, and I couldn’t be more proud of the show. We have 10 final episodes premiering in October, and a great 2-part finale,” he wrote.

“‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’ has been an incredibly important show for IFC,” IFC president Jennifer Caserta said in a statement. “Over five seasons and more than 100 episodes, Scott Aukerman has been a comedic force who has meant so much to us. … Scott and his team worked with our advertising partners in ways that were as buzzy as the jokes. We are proud to celebrate ‘Comedy Bang! Bang!’ across this final 10-episode send-off and appreciate everything it has meant to IFC.”

Watts was the co-host and bandleader for most of the series, but he departed in the middle of Season 4 to become the bandleader for “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” Kid Cudi filled in for the rest of the season, with “Weird Al” Yankovic serving as bandleader for Season 5.

Notable guest stars on the show have included Ty Burrell, Mark Duplass, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Zach Galifianakis, former NFLer Eddie George, Simon Helberg, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Schoolboy Q, Jack Antonoff, Twin Shadow and Tears for Fears. Others that have appeared on the show include Jon Hamm, Fred Armisen, Amy Poehler, Jack Black, Jessica Alba, Anna Kendrick and Future Islands.

The series is produced for IFC by Abso Lutely Productions; Aukerman, Neil Campbell and Dave Kneebone serve as executive producers.
