Common to Host Spike TV’s Furniture Design Competition (Video)

New reality series “Framework” will launch in January

Here’s a sentence you probably didn’t expect to read when you woke up this morning: Rapper Common is teaming up with Spike TV for a series that will pit furniture designers against each other for a $100,000 prize.

Common will host the upcoming Spike reality show “Framework,” which is slated for a Jan. 6 premiere.

The series will feature 13 furniture designers being “pushed to the brink of their physical and creative limits with challenges that ask them to reconsider everything they know about designing and building furniture,” according to the network.

Common will be joined by designer Nolen Niu and Hard Goods furniture bigwig Brandon Gore, who will judge the contestants’ work and offer “constructive yet brutal honesty.”

The 10-episode series was created and will be executive produced by Dwight D. Smith and Michael Agbabian of Mission Control Media (“Hollywood Game Night,” “Face Off”). Common and Andrea Richter (“Ink Master”) will also executive produce.
