Valerie Weiss (“Losing Control”) is directing from a script by Moira McMahon Leeper, who previously wrote for “Private Practice” and MTV's “Teen Wolf.”
“A Light Beneath Their Feet” is a character-driven story that follows a high school senior (Davenport) who must choose between the college of her dreams and staying close to home to take care of her bipolar mother (Manning).
The film has been in production for several weeks but Hawk just signed on for a significant supporting role as Davenport's young step-mother, who is determined to help her make the right decision.
Rob Johnson is producing “A Light Beneath Their Feet,” while Jeffrey Loeb is executive producing.
Hawk co-starred in “Peeples” and the Judd Apatow-produced comedies “Bridesmaids” and “Get Him to the Greek.” She'll next be seen in Queen Latifah‘s upcoming romantic comedy “November Rule” as well as Aaron McGruder's new series “Black Jesus,” which debuts Aug. 7 on Adult Swim.
Hawk, who recently completed a two-season arc on Fox's hit series “New Girl,” is repped by Resolution and Luber Roklin Entertainment.”
