Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn stole the show in “Suicide Squad,” and now the film’s director is teaming up with the Australian actress to reprise her role in “Gotham City Sirens,” a movie featuring several of DC’s highest-profile female villains, TheWrap has learned.

David Ayer will direct and produce “Gotham City Sirens,” which is now on the fast track at Warner Bros. but does not yet have a release date. Robbie is an executive producer, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who wrote the “Tomb Raider” remake and “Sherlock Holmes 3,” is handling the script. Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will also be involved in an undetermined producer role.

“Gotham City Sirens” is based on a DC Comics series and features Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” got an abysmal 26 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, but the film was a box office success, reeling in $325 million domestically and $746 million worldwide. That did fall short of the previous installment in the DC universe, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which grossed $330 million at domestic theaters and $873 million around the world.

Warner Bros. is working on a sequel to “Suicide Squad” as well as a spin-off focused on Will Smith’s Deadshot. Ayer is wrapping up production on “Bright,” a Netflix thriller starring Smith and “Loving” star Joel Edgerton.

Ayer is represented by CAA and Sloane Offer. Robbie’s representatives are Management 360, CAA, attorney Jeff Bernstein and Aran Michael Management.
