‘Days of Our Lives’ Kills Off Iconic Character, Actor Reveals ‘Difficult’ Exit

One of daytime’s all-time supercouples ends — apparently for good

Dead doesn’t always mean dead on soap operas, but “Days of Our Lives” made a pretty convincing case that one of its most iconic characters, Bo Brady, is gone for good.

Peter Reckell, who has played the character on and off since 1983, returned briefly to the show in September to celebrate its 50th anniversary and reunite with the other half of daytime super-couple Bo and Hope (Kristian Alfonso).

Fans were excited, but were left heartbroken on Friday when Bo’s brief return was brought to an abrupt end and he seemed to exit the show for good — dying in the arms of Hope as they shared a kiss.

“It’s making it a little difficult for me to leave,” Reckell said in an interview from the set. “I’m like ‘Hey this is fun!’ You know, I’m back in the sandbox and I want to play some more.”

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
