After SAG's decision to postpone its strike authorization vote, many in Hollywood are wondering if the vote may be called off altogether. Variety says the timing of Monday night's announcement was "telling," coming a few hours after national executive director Doug Allen and president Alan Rosenberg met with leaders of the Unite for Strength faction, a group of moderates who won five board seats in the fall after campaigning on a platform that Rosenberg and his allies had bungled the contract negotiations strategy. Unite for Strength expressed concerns about the vote because of the number of SAG members against it. The group has a powerful but slight ruling margin on the national board, which could be important during the Jan. 12-13 emergency meeting.
