Upcoming Disney Channel original movie “Descendants” has found Evvie, the daughter of the Evil Queen from “Snow White.”
Newcomer Sofia Carson has been cast in the starring role, TheWrap has learned.
The Florida native has guest-starred on Disney Channel’s “Austin and Ally.” She also has a guest-starring role on the upcoming MTV comedy “Faking It.”

Carson, who’s currently attending the University of California, Los Angeles, is a dancer and singer in addition to being an actress. She’s currently signed with BMI as a singer/songwriter and is working on songs with Hans Zimmer’s production team.
Set for a 2015 premiere, “Descendants” will introduce the teen offspring of its greatest villains. The children, though, are beginning to question the family business.
Carson joins already announced cast members Dove Cameron as Mal, the daughter of Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty”; Booboo Stewart will play Jay, the son of Jafar from “Aladdin”; and Mitchell Hope has been cast as Ben, the son of Belle and the Beast from “Beauty and the Beast.”

Emmy-winning director and choreographer of the cable channel’s “High School Musical” franchise, Kenny Ortega, has been tapped to direct. Casting is currently underway.
Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott (“The Starter Wife,” “Runaway Bride,” “Desperate Housewives”) are writing the script. Mark Hofeling (“Teen Beach Movie,” “High School Musical”) will head production design, and Kara Saun (“Project Runway,” “America’s Best Dance Crew”) will oversee wardrobe design.
