Dominic Cooper‘s man of the cloth does not look like much of a peacemaker in the first trailer for AMC’s upcoming series “Preacher.”
The teaser, which debuted during Sunday’s episode of “The Walking Dead,” is soaked with menace — and blood — befitting its source material: the popular graphic novel series by Garth Ennis, drawn by Steve Dillon.
The series follows Jesse Custer (Cooper), a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says.
Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God.
Rogen and Goldberg are serving as executive producers on the show, which hails from AMC Studios and Sony Pictures Television. Executive producer Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”) is serving as showrunner, and wrote the pilot episode.
