“Celebrity Apprentice” star and presumed presidential candidate Donald Trump is being sued over failed plans to build a resort with his name on it, according to court documents obtained by TheWrap.
Robert Briggs filed suit against the Donald — along with his son, Donald Jr. and daughter Ivanka — in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday. Briggs claims that he was duped into investing in Trump Ocean Resort Baja, a proposed vacation facility in Baja California, Mexico, that was never built, based on the false impression that Trump was an investor in the resort.

According to Briggs, the plans for the resort went belly-up in December 2008 — and when the developers informed him that the project had failed, he discovered that not only had his investment money been withdrawn for purposes other than the project, but Trump had merely licensed his name to the project.
Alleging that the Trumps and Los Angeles-based real-estate investment and development company Irongate had engaged in a “sustained and intensive marketing effort to capture potential buyers” based on Trump’s supposed investment in the project, Briggs is suing for fraud, unjust enrichment, negligence, unfair business practices, negligent misrepresentation and breach of fiduciary duty.
