Drake Is Spotify’s Most Streamed Artist of 2015

Major Lazer’s “Lean On” becomes not only most streamed song of the year, but most streamed song in history

Drake was the most played music artist on Spotify in 2015, the streaming music service announced Tuesday.

The “Hotline Bling” singer, who was streamed over 1.8 billion times and had 46 million listeners, was followed in the Top 5 by The Weeknd, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran and Eminem.

Rihanna was the top female artist of the year, with over 1 billion streams and 57 million listeners.

Other record holders include Justin Bieber, who set a record for most streams in a single day on Nov. 13 with 36 million streams; “Lean On (ft. MØ and DJ Snake)” by Major Lazer ranks as the most streamed song of 2015 and of all time with 540 million streams; The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind the Madness” was the most streamed album, with over 60 million streams.

With over 3 billion streams to date and over 59 million listeners in 2015, Ed Sheeran has become the most streamed artist of all time on Spotify.
