El Chapo ‘Homeland’ Story Teased by Showtime Boss

TCA 2016: “That sort of narco-terrorism is always a possibility,” David Nevins says

Showtime president David Nevins has El Chapo on his mind.

Asked whether he would ever consider a season of “Homeland” based on notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, the Showtime Networks president answered in the affirmative.

“Yeah, I’ve thought about that,” Nevins told reporters after a Television Critics Association panel Tuesday. “I have no idea if Alex [Gansa, “Homeland” showrunner] has ever thought of it. I’m just saying I’ve thought of it. It seems a little out of the orbit of the show. But that sort of narco-terrorism is always a possibility.”

Nevins also revealed Tuesday that Season 6 of “Homeland” will take place in New York.

Season 6 of “Homeland” will shoot at least partly in New York, Showtime president Nevins also revealed Tuesday.

He told reporters that after two seasons set outside the United States, Season 6 will be “set primarily in the New York area, not exclusively.”
