Ratings: ‘Criminal Minds’ Finale Carries CBS Past Fox’s ‘Empire’-Led Lineup in Viewers

Fox still easily wins key 18-49 demo battle with hip-hop drama, “Rosewood”

“Empire” still boasts an amazing live tune-in from the key 18-49 demographic, but the hip-hop soap opera’s total viewers couldn’t compete last night with CBS’ full lineup.

Fox easily topped the main demo, though CBS won total viewers, powered by its “Criminal Minds” season finale. That’s simply reflective of how many 50-plus eyeballs the procedural and the network attracts.

Fox was first in ratings with a 2.4 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 6.8 million, according to preliminary numbers. “Rosewood” at 8 p.m. ET received a 1.2/4 and 4.3 million viewers. At 9, “Empire” scored a 3.6/12 and 9.3 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 1.7/6 and first in viewers with 8.3 million. “Survivor” at 8 p.m. earned a 2.1/8 and 9.4 million viewers. “Criminal Minds” at 9 posted a 1.8/6 and 8.8 million viewers. Spinoff “Beyond Borders” at 10 put up a 1.2/4 and 6.8 million viewers.

ABC was third in ratings with a 1.5/5 and in viewers with 5.7 million. “The Middle” at 8 had a 1.7/7 and 6.9 million viewers. At 8:30, “The Goldbergs” got a 1.9/7 and 6.6 million viewers. “Modern Family” at 9 earned a 2.2/8 and 7.4 million viewers. At 9:30, “Black-ish” received a 1.6/5 and 5.6 million viewers. “Nashville” at 10 closed the Disney broadcaster’s primetime with a 0.9/3 and 3.9 million viewers.

NBC was fourth in ratings with a 1.0/4 and in viewers with 5.2 million. “Heartbeat” at 8 had a 0.7/3 and 4.1 million viewers. At 9, “Law & Order: SVU” got a 1.1/4 and 5.2 million viewers. “Chicago PD” at 10 received a 1.2/4 and 6.2 million viewers.

The CW was fifth in ratings with a 0.7/2 and in viewers with 1.8 million. “Arrow” at 8 had a 0.7/3 and 2.1 million viewers. At 9, “Supernatural” got a 0.6/2 and 1.5 million viewers.

Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.6 million.

Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.3 million.
