Margaret O’Brien has been named executive vice president, Corporate Development, for Entertainment One (eOne), where she’ll oversee the company’s merger and acquisition activities.
O’Brien joined the company in September 2008 when it acquired Barna-Alper Productions and is currently president, Canada, and chief operating officer for eOne Television. In her role, O’Brien has set up first-look deals and focused on eOne’s factual television unit, orchestrating the acquisitions of Paperny Entertainment and Force Four Entertainment.
Most recently, she closed eOne’s deal with interactive agency Secret Location, securing an equity stake in the business.
O’Brien will report directly to Darren Throop, president and chief executive officer, Entertainment One (eOne), and continue to be based in Toronto. She will continue to work on her existing Television responsibilities during the transitional period as the company seeks a new head for its Television business in Canada.
“Margaret will bring her extensive experience in television and her M&A expertise to source and drive strategic growth initiatives for the Group,” Throop said on Tuesday.
“I believe this is a great opportunity as we prepare to double the size of our business over the next several years. eOne has enjoyed a remarkable evolution and transformation, and my goal is to help the Group build on that success through new partnerships and acquisitions on a global basis,” added O’Brien.
