President Trump’s son, Eric, is being trolled on Twitter for saying nepotism is a “beautiful thing” in an interview with The Telegraph. In the feature that ran Monday, he also suggested that his sister, Ivanka, influenced the decision to launch recent airstrikes against Syria.

“Hey Eric Trump if Ivanka gets upset about a crumbling public school system will your dad do something about that, too?,” reads one tweet.

“[President Trump] knows I care about the family. He knows I care about the brand. He knows I deeply care about the properties, our amazing teams. And he knows I’m going to do everything I can humanly possible to take care of that,” Eric Trump told the British paper. “Is that nepotism? Absolutely. Is that also a beautiful thing? Absolutely.”

Eric argued that a relative would be more likely to tell the president “no disrespect but you might want to think about this” or “maybe you crossed the line here” than a typical adviser.

Eric is running the family business while his sister Ivanka has a White House role alongside her father. The 33-year-old said, “Family business is a beautiful thing. The same applies for Ivanka.”

He continued: “You trust the people who are closest to you. Who is he going to trust most to run a company? He is going to trust somebody who he trusts implicitly.”

Eric Trump became a top trend on Twitter after the interview was published:
