“Everest,” a 3D mountain climbing adventure, will push back its hike to the summit by six months.

The upcoming thriller will debut on Friday, September 18, 2015 instead of its initial release date of  February 27, 2015.

“Everest” has its new release date entirely to itself, although the following weekend will see the debuts of “The Intern” with Anne Hathaway and the sequel to “Hotel Transylvania.” Had it stuck with its original plan, “Everest” would have faced off against “Focus,” a Will Smith vehicle, and “Selfless,” a science-fiction thriller with Ryan Reynolds.

“Everest” follows two different expeditions to the top of the mountain. The Himalayan excursion gets dicier after a fierce snowstorm hits. Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal star in the picture. Universal Studios will distribute the film.
