Despite the tumult in his personal life, “Flip or Flop” star Tarek El Moussa has reason to celebrate this week.

El Moussa, who earlier this year filed for divorce from his wife and costar, Christina El Moussa, gave an update on his health Wednesday night, reporting that he remains cancer-free following a health scare three years ago.

“Still #cancer #free!!!! Having cancer is a very scary thing… I always get nervous going into each check up and today I got GREAT news!!” the star of the HGTV series wrote on Instagram, in a post sharing a text conversation with a UCLA employee.

“Having no thyroid and balancing medications is tough! I’m finally at UCLA and I’m on the right doses of medication.. People don’t know but I was very over medicated with rapid heart rate and palpitations to the point where I wore a heart rate monitor…,” the reality TV personality continued. “It really messed me up but today everything is dialed and I finally feel great after 3 years!!”

As previously reported, El Moussa was diagnosed with  cancer after a registered nurse emailed the show’s production company in 2013 to suggest that El Moussa have a nodule on his thyroid checked out by a doctor.

El Moussa’s marital woes came to late last year, when the couple announced that they were splitting up.

In May, law enforcement responded to a report of a “possibly suicidal male with a gun.” The call was made after Tarek retrieved a gun from the couple’s home and wandered into Chino Hills State Park.

Tarek told deputies that he headed to the park to “blow off some steam,” and that he brought the gun with him as protection against mountain lions and rattlesnakes.

“Flip or Flop,” which premiered in 2013, revolves around the El Moussas, real estate agents who buy distressed properties and renovate them.

In a statement to TheWrap, HGTV, which airs the series, said that the show “will continue production as scheduled.”

“We admire and appreciate Tarek and Christina’s great work on ‘Flip or Flop,’” HGTV said. “When it comes to matters related to their own family, we respect their privacy and honor any decision that works best for them and their children. HGTV is currently airing episodes of ‘Flip or Flop’ and the series will continue production as scheduled.”
