Tarek El Moussa took a break from renovating houses on Tuesday in order to renovate his style.
And judging from the waves of ridicule his new look received, his efforts were definitely a flop.
“Flip or Flop” star El Moussa, who’s currently undergoing a divorce from his wife and co-star Christina El Moussa, hit up Instagram to declare that he’s been informed that he has no “style” or “swagger,” and that he was considering trying to remedy that by buying a pair of “hipster sunglasses.”
“My good buddy claims I have no #style or #swagge r… he’s trying to convince me to buy these LA #hipster sunglasses…. let’s take a vote… yes I buy or no I don’t???” The HGTV star wrote in a caption to a photo of him modeling the shades.. “This is not a joke… I want #swagga!!!”
Despite a flood of responses counseling El Moussa against the new look, the “Flip or Flop” star took the plunge anyway, writing, “#BREAKING #NEWS!!! I received a few positive comments which led me to believe they are cool!! I’ve pulled the trigger and purchased my first high end sunglasses!! I think they look better in person!! You may just see me rocking these bad boys around town or on TV!!!”
The reality star added, “Kind of excited… never wore “cool” and “hip” stuff before.. #Swagga game #officially on!!!! Christina ain’t the only one in dis fam that’s trendy!!!!”
The resulting responses were overwhelmingly negative, with heavy doses of ridicule.
“You look like you should be on willy wonka,” one response read.
“They look like they are for women,” another critique offered.
“Oh god. They’re terrible!” yet another detractor asserted.
“Dude….just no. I hope you kept the receipt,” another response read.
“Sort of looks like the glasses you get when you have your eyes dilated at the optometrist,” went another reply. “You are much more handsome without.”
Then there was the concise response, “Rotflmaoooooo!!!!!!”
Maybe El Moussa should return the sunglasses. Sounds like he’s already getting plenty of shade thrown at him.
