GOP Debate Is Fox News’ Most-Watched Program in 19-Year History With 24 Million Viewers

The Republican debate also totaled 8 million 25-54 viewers

The Fox News presidential debate produced monster ratings, totaling 24 million viewers from 9-11 p.m.

The debate, which has received rave reviews from media critics, also brought in 8 million 25-54 demo viewers.

The numbers are gargantuan compared to 2012, which saw 3.2 million viewers for the first GOP debate on Fox. They are also a cable news record as the debate is the highest non-sports cable program in history and Fox News’ most-watched program in its 19 year history.

The ratings performance comes after a blizzard of anticapation and promotion of the debate throughout the media.

The two-hour contest saw its fair share of fireworks, both between moderator Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump and candidates Rand Paul and Chris Christie.

The next GOP presidential debate airs in September on CNN.
