Fox News was the most-watched network in all of cable last week, marking five straight weekly primetime victories for the network since former chairman and CEO Roger Ailes stepped down amid sexual harassment allegations.
For the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 4 Fox News won in total day viewers, averaging 1.3 million, in addition to primetime, during which it averaged 2.2 million.
MSNBC beat CNN in both categories, averaging 1.2 million primetime viewers compared to 905,000 and edging the Turner news net in daytime, 665,000 to 646,000 viewers.
The primetime numbers were boosted by the Aug. 31 episode of “Hannity,” which featured GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s immigration speech, and racked up 5.2 million viewers to finish as the most-watched telecast in all of cable for the week.
Ailes, who co-founded Fox News, stepped down back on July 21 following a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by former host Gretchen Carlson that has since been settled. Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine are the network’s new co-presidents and the regime change hasn’t hurt the network’s ratings whatsoever.
Fox News has now finished first in primetime basic cable in 12 out of the last 13 weeks.
HGTV, ESPN, USA and TNT join Fox News among the top five primetime networks for the week. When it comes to total day, Nickelodeon, Adult Swim, HGTV and Nick-at-Nite round out the top five.
