‘Game of Thrones’ New Teaser Hints at Fate of Jon Snow and Another Major Character’s Death (Video)

The sixth season of the hit HBO series returns April 24

A new teaser for the sixth season of “Game of Thrones” set the Internet ablaze on Sunday, with hints about the fate of key characters from the hit HBO series based on George R.R. Martin‘s series of best-selling fantasy novels.

The promotional spot is set in the Hall of Faces in the eerie, candle-lit House of Black and White, and pans slowly over the faces of characters who have been killed over the course of the series.

The figures depicted include Eddard Stark (Sean Bean), Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleason), Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) and — spoiler alerts to follow — Jon Snow (Kit Harington) — with echoes of their voices sounding out over their visages.

But toward the very end of the teaser, which includes no new footage from the sixth season, there’s a hint at another major character who might join the ranks of the fallen — and who has not yet been hinted at elsewhere.

Major spoiler alert ahead! (Seriously, stop reading now if you don’t want to be tormented.)

But the teaser ends with the distinct image of the beloved Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) among the Hall of Faces. Time will tell whether this is another bait-and-switch by the show creators or an alarming bit of foreshadowing.

Watch the video above. The sixth season of “Game of Thrones” returns to HBO on April 24.
