‘Ghostbusters’ Casts Andy Garcia, Cecily Strong, Michael K. Williams in Sony’s Paul Feig Reboot (Exclusive)

Actors join Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in Paul Feig comedy

“Ghostbusters”  has landed itself a high profile politician in Andy Garcia — and another “Saturday Night Live” alum in Cecily Strong.

The “Ocean’s Eleven” star has been cast as the Mayor of New York City in Paul Feig‘s franchise reboot for Sony Pictures, starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth.

Strong, currently on her “SNL” hiatus, will play an unconfirmed character. She also appears in this year’s Sundance darling “The Bronze” as well as McCarthy’s forthcoming “Michelle Darnell.”

Michael Kenneth Williams of “Boardwalk Empire” and HBO fan favorite “The Wire” also joins the project, currently shooting in Boston, as a character named Hawkins.

Matt Walsh, best known as press aide Mike McLintock of “Veep,” also joins the cast as Rourke.

In addition, Pat Kiernan, the longtime morning anchor on New York City’s NY1 on Time Warner Cable, will stretch himself as a news anchor in the film.

Feig, who directed Wiig and McCarthy in the blockbuster “Bridesmaids,” has been teasing elements of the all-female reboot on social media — like Melissa McCarthy‘s Reboot Gear (Photo)” href=”http://www.thewrap.com/ghostbusters-jumpsuits-first-look-see-kristen-wiig-melissa-mccarthys-reboot-gear-photo/”>updated jumpsuits in which the crew will battle supernatural pests, as well as new weapons called Proton Packs.

The film is based on the 1984 comedy of the same name that starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as scientists who develop technology to trap ghosts.

Feig also co-wrote the female-driven reboot with “The Heat” co-writer Kate Dippold.
