Gillian Flynn Adaptation ‘Sharp Objects’ Starring Amy Adams Lands at HBO

The series will be executive produced by Marti Noxon, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée

HBO has picked up “Sharp Objects,” an adaptation of Gillian Flynn‘s novel, TheWrap has learned.

The first season will consist of eight episodes.

Amy Adams is starring in the series, with Marti Noxon acting as showrunner and writer, and Jean-Marc Vallée directing every epsode. Flynn will write multiple episodes of the series.

Adams will play Camille, a journalist who is tasked with covering the murders of two girls after returning to work from a stay in a mental institution.

Entertainment One is worldwide distributor.

Jason Blum, Charles Layton and Jessica Rhoades for Blumhouse Productions will all act as EPs, along with Vallee, Adams, Flynn and Noxon.

Blumhouse first optioned “Sharp Objects” in 2011.

Adams will also star in Vallée’s Janis Joplin biopic “Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can” and is currently reprising her role as Lois Lane in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
