‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Jason George on How to Avoid Getting Killed Off (Exclusive Video)

“It kind of wakes everybody up,” ABC actor says of McDreamy’s death, in a new edition of Drinking With the Stars, with TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell

Shonda Rhimes may have killed off her leading man on “Grey’s Anatomy,” but the surviving cast members have ideas on how to avoid the fate of Patrick Dempsey.

“Every once in a while it does go down,” Jason George, who plays Dr. Ben Warren on the ABC drama, told TheWrap’s Stuart Brazell in a new edition of Drinking With the Stars. “You gotta make sure you pay attention. You gotta make sure you’re on Shonda’s right side.”

Dempsey’s McDreamy was killed off in Season 11 of the perennial hit drama, which stars Ellen Pompeo, and George’s character, husband to Chandra Wilson’s Dr. Bailey, was made a series regular in Season 12.

The show did not waste any time in throwing drama at him, capping off in a big two-parter Thursday night, which has left Bailey and Ben’s marriage in trouble.

“It’s not good,” George teased of tumultuous times to come. “She threatened to fire her husband, last I checked, that doesn’t go over well in a marriage.”

“Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursdays at 8/7c on ABC.
