Revel in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Full Dancing Groot Scene (Video)

Watch those branches move

With three words (repeated over and over), big Groot was able to steal the show from the humans (and raccoon) in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

With a few dance moves, little Groot became the most lovable character in the smash hit Marvel movie.

Without spoiling the movie for those few Americans that haven’t seen it yet, there is a moment in which Groot — who had to start re-growing for a reason we won’t reveal! — started to really feel the music of the Jackson Five… even if Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) wasn’t so into his branch waving.

Vin Diesel voiced the sentient tree, but it was actually director James Gunn that provided the model for the animators in the sapling dancing scene — which you can see above, via Yahoo! Movies.

That included endless takes from Diesel, who spent days in the studio giving a voice to the charming humanoid tree with a tiny vocabulary. Gunn estimates that the actor delivered thousands of takes of the same three words: “I am Groot.”

Still, Diesel was recorded by cameras as he delivered each line… which he did over and over.

“Vin is somebody who would go in there and he would keep going and going and going, and it would take me a long time, but I would eventually be like, ‘I’m happy with that Vin, OK, we can go to the next,’” Gunn told TheWrap last month, “and Vin would be going, ‘One more, one more, one more, one more.’”
