HGTV Renews ‘Island Life,’ ‘Island Hunters’

Sister network DIY’s “Texas Flip and Move,” ‘Garage Gold,” “Building Alaska” are also coming back

Scripps Networks Interactive networks HGTV and DIY renewed five series, the networks announced on Thursday.

HGTV has renewed “Island Life,” about homeowners looking for island homes, and “Island Hunters,” featuring families looking for private island getaways.

Sister net DIY Network has ordered more episodes of the real estate competition series “Texas Flip and Move,” about three teams of real estate risk-takers who race against time to renovate homes, move them to a new lot and flip them for the biggest profit; “Garage Gold,” starring “junk picker” Kraig Bantle; and “Building Alaska,” a series that features daring individuals who set out to construct their dream properties in the remote Alaskan wilderness.

“We’ve achieved 11 consecutive months of ratings growth at HGTV, and DIY Network’s prime impressions are up 8 percent this quarter,” said Allison Page, general manager, HGTV and DIY Network. “‘Island Life,’ ‘Island Hunters,’ ‘Building Alaska,’ ‘Garage Gold’ and ‘Texas Flip and Move’ are among the consistent performers on our networks, so we want to keep our programming pipeline filled with new episodes.”

HGTV is distributed to more than 96 million U.S. households and HGTV.com draws an average of 4 million unique visitors per month. DIY Network, currently in more than 58 million homes.
