The road to the Oscars begins tonight at the Beverly Hilton as Jimmy Fallon hosts the 74th Golden Globe Awards. The ceremony begins live at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on NBC, as top movie contenders “La La Land,” “Moonlight” and “Manchester by the Sea” contend for top honors.

If you can’t get to a TV tonight but want to watch, NBC will stream the ceremony on its website. A cable subscription is required to watch the stream. Before the ceremony, Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic will host the red carpet countdown on E! starting at 6 PM ET/3 PM PT, which will also be streamed for free on Twitter.

“La La Land” goes into tonight as the heavy favorite to win the award for Best Musical or Comedy, competing against dark horses like “Sing Street” and “20th Century Women,” as well as surprise nominee “Deadpool.” In the race for Best Drama, “Moonlight” and “Manchester by the Sea” are considered the favorites, though the award might go to likely Oscar contenders “Lion,” “Hell Or High Water” or “Hacksaw Ridge.”

On the TV side, this Golden Globes marks the first opportunity for two smash-hit sci-fi newcomers, “Westworld” and “Stranger Things,” to come away with a big win… though they will likely have to go through “Game of Thrones” to win the top prize.

The best chance for the two new shows may be in the Best Actress category, as Evan Rachel Wood and Winona Ryder have been nominated for their respective performances as the android Dolores in “Westworld” and the harried mother Joyce in “Stranger Things.”

In the comedy category, Amazon series “Mozart in the Jungle” looks to repeat its surprise victory for the top prize last year, competing against a field that includes Donald Glover’s new FX dramedy “Atlanta.”

In the limited series class, “People v. O.J. Simpson” hopes to enjoy the same success at the Globes that it enjoyed at the Emmys, as it is nominated for the top prize along with acting nominations for Sarah Paulson, Courtney B. Vance, John Travolta and Sterling K. Brown. Its competitors in the category include the HBO mystery miniseries “The Night Of” and Tom Hiddleston’s “The Night Manager.”
