"Lie to Me" showrunner Shawn Ryan tweeted that the Fox crime series had received a full-season order.

Fox would not confirm or deny that it had reupped the solid ratings performer until it officially releases its midseason pickups later today.

Ryan was not so circumspect, tweeting: "'Lie to Me' picked up for a back 9! Thanks for all the support everyone!"

In a plot setup that smacks of a "Mentalist" retread, "Lie to Me" centers on a brilliant psychotherapist (Tim Roth) who uses his keen powers of psychological perception to aid law enforcement officials in their investigations.

(Joe Adalian is ill; he will return to MoJoe shortly.)

Both Lie to Me and the Mentalist are excellent shows. Lie to Me is very educational, most of the show is based around the real life research work of Paul Ekman. I've read the book "Telling Lies" last week and it explains a lot of the jargon in the show.

Wait, so are there an additional nine that will be showing up sometime soon?

The fact is that "Lie To Me" is a well-written show, and performed by good actors. I hope it sticks around for a while. Not many tv shows have actors the caliber of Tim Roth. Enjoy him while you got him. And as for the comparisons of "The Mentalist", it's very different It's like saying all Medical shows are alike, or all cop shows are the same. They are both shows about an investigation, getting from point A to point B but telling a story in a unique way with a different set of skills. I watch them both.

man this journalist is a hack! lie to me is about a lie expert, not a psychotherapist and definitely NOT a mentalist rip off.

What horrible writing! First it says Shawn Ryan tweeted that Lie to Me was picked up for a third season. No, he didn't! Then the actual tweet is quoted, saying that the show got its back 9...for the current 2nd season! Get your facts straight! And was it really necessary to compare it to Mentalist? Ugh! Idiot!

Lie to me was not picked up for a third season. It was picked up for the "back 9" of its second season, taking the season order from 13 to 22 episodes.
