Hail to the Ex-Chief: Itzin Returns to '24'
Former "24" regular Gregory Itzin is returning to the Fox drama next season, signing on to reprise his role as former President Logan in a multi-episode arc.
When viewers last saw Itzin's character in season six, he was bleeding out after being stabbed by wife Martha Logan (Jean Smart). After taking season seven off, Itzin's Logan will return in season eight when the current president, Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones), asks for his help in a diplomatic crisis.
“The opportunity for these two remarkable actors to share the stage was simply too compelling to pass up," said "24" executive producer Howard Gordon.
Itzin most recently has kept busy with a recurring role on the CBS hit "The Mentalist." He also guested on "Hannah Montana" and is a co-star in the Jamie Foxx feature "Law Abiding Citizen."
The new season of "24" kicks off with a four-hour, two-night event on Jan. 17 and 18.

Rollin Hand Says
Didn't see any of Season 5 or 6 yet (although I have the DVD set for Season 6), so I really don't know if I need to watch some scenes that include Gregory Itzin, but here goes:
What we Cherry Jones fans want and NEED is MORE Cherry Jones (aka "President Taylor, America's first female Commander-in-Chief') and LESS of everyone else (!) And that includes sharing screen time with someone named 'Gregory Itzin, aka 'former President Charles Logan.'
FOX (via producer Howard Gordon) has said he 'couldn't pass up the opportunity to set these two great actors (Jones and Itzin) up in scenes together. But can you trust FOX? For all we know, FOX may have already bumped off "President Taylor" and thus has the luxury of bringing back former Pres Gregory Itzin back into the mix.
All of this is very frustrating for Cherry Jones' fans, although we are still looking forward to Season 8 to check up on the Jack-Renee situation.
