Post-Lambert, ABC Looking at Live Performance Rules
There's more fallout from the Adam Lambert/ American Music Awards kerfuffle.
ABC is taking a closer look at how it approaches lives appearances and performances on awards shows, according to Anne Sweeney, president of the Disney/ABC TV Group. Sweeney confirmed the review to Reuters at the news organization's annual media summit Monday.
"We certainly don't want to suppress artistry at any level, but we also have to be very cognizant of who our audience is," Sweeney said.
The executive said ABC was looking into ways of getting guarantees from artists to not deviate greatly from their rehearsed performances. It might also seek contractual guarantees from performers to make sure they don't step out of line.
Lambert's over-the-top performance Nov. 22 featured simulated oral gratification, crotch grabbing and a middle finger, among other things. While similar in tone to other past music awards show spectacles, the Lambert appearance nonetheless generated more than 1500 calls of complaint to ABC.
ABC decided to cancel Lambert's planned appearance on "Good Morning America" in the wake of the incident, a move Sweeney defended.
"We really had to take the decision very seriously and found that his performance was very unpredictable at night and (we) didn't know what to expect in the morning," Sweeney said, according to Reuters.

All of my friends- or so called friends, i can not stand to be around now because of all the bullshit they want to spread about people. There little clicks and gangs that they belong to need to die and they need to concentrate on their own personal lives and families and quit worrying about everyone elses life. Is there no such thing as privacy
and respect for others anymore or has this country just gone
to hell.
If people remembered the ten commandments and obeyred them and taught them the way most of us were raised then this country might not be in the shape it is.
Faith, love and hope are the greatest gifts that our Father in heaven gives us and Love is the greatest of them all and
people need to be reminded of that daily and follow it daily
and the children of this world might actually have a chance to make something with their lives, instead of where we are today.
People have lost their beliefs and morals between right and wrong and the children are the ones who suffer. Parents need to re-evaluate the way they are bringing up their kids in todays society and stand firm in what is right and disipline
children and teach them right from wrong. Their is entirely too much violence and hatred in todays society and if nothing is done now before it is too late then where will those kids wind up.
