Jada Pinkett Smith Thriller ‘Murder Town’ Sold to ABC

Barry Schindel will write and executive produce project ordered as a put pilot

Jada Pinkett Smith will star and executive produce “Murder Town,” a thriller ordered by ABC as a put pilot.

Barry Schindel will write and executive produce the show, which will star Pinkett Smith as Wilmington, Delaware’s, first African American District Attorney, who finds herself confronted by old loyalties and loves, a shocking revelation about her murdered husband and a polarizing, racially charged case that threatens to burn her and her city to the ground.

Schindel is writing the pilot based on an original script by Rob Fresco.

“Murder Town” will be executive produced by Pinkett Smith, Schindel and Miguel Melendez, and produced by Overbrook Entertainment in association with A+E Studios.

The drama also marks A+E Studios’ first project for a network outside of the A+E Networks family.

Pinkett Smith and Overbrook Entertainment are represented by Paradigm and attorney Jason Sloan, while Schindel is represented by CAA and attorney Tom Hoberman.
