Open Road Films sets winter 2017 date for movie about Las Vegas undercover cop

Jamie Foxx‘s thriller “Sleepless” will stumble out of bed and into theaters on February 24, 2017, Open Road Films announced Tuesday.

Director Baran Bo Odar’s movie stars the Oscar winner as undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs, who is caught in a high stakes web of corrupt cops and the mob-controlled casino underground.

When a heist goes wrong, a crew of homicidal gangsters kidnaps Downs’ teenage son. In one sleepless night, he will have to rescue his son, evade an internal affairs investigation and bring the kidnappers to justice.

The new film also stars Michelle Monaghan (“True Detective”), Gabrielle Union (“Top Five”), rapper T.I. (“Ant-Man”), Dermot Mulroney (“Mozart in the Jungle”),  Scoot McNairy (“Batman v Superman”) and David Harbour (“Suicide Squad”).

Andrea Berloff wrote the screenplay, which is adapted from Frederic Jardin’s 2011 French film “Sleepless Night” (“Nuit Blanche”).

Roy Lee and Adam Stone produced “Sleepless.” John Powers Middleton, Alex Foster, Tom Ortenberg, Peter Lawson, Lauranne Bourrachot, Marco Cherqui and Jeremiah Samuels served as executive producers.
