Twentieth Century Fox Animation are turning author Jennifer Weiner’s new book, “The Littlest Bigfoot,” into an animated movie, the studio announced Friday.
The story follows two 12-year-old girls — one human and one Bigfoot — who feel out of place in their own worlds but join forces to keep the secret Bigfoot world safe.
The New York Times best-selling author, whose novels include “Good in Bed” and “In Her Shoes” — the latter of which was adapted for the big screen — will serve as executive producer on the movie.
Chris Bender (”We’re The Millers”) and Jake Weiner (“Leap Year”) will produce via the newly launched Good Year Film.
“The Littlest Bigfoot” was just published on Sept. 13 and is the first installment in a trilogy. Weiner is currently penning the next book, titled “Little Bigfoot, Big City” which will be released in November 2017.
“I loved writing this book, and spending time with these three misfit kids who discover their own worth,” Weiner said in a statement.
“In Her Shoes” was adapted into a big screen 2005 comedy-drama starring Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette and Shirley MacLaine, and was ultimately a box office success.
Weiner will also be releasing a memoir of essay collections titled “Hungry Heart: Adventures in Life, Love, and Writing” this year.
