Sisto will play Captain Fergus Markey in the project, which is based on the Alistair MacLean novel of the same name.

In the story, Air Force One is sabotaged and sent plunging into the Mediterranean. The president of the United States is taken hostage, along with a White House correspondent, with the release of a Serbian strongman demanded as ransom. If the terms aren't met, the president will be murdered on camera. Sisto's character is charged with tracking down the kidnappers' lair.

"Lost" alum Emilie de Ravin, Linda Hamilton, Amanda Donohoe and Rupert Graves will appear alongside Sisto. Niall Leonard ("Wild at Heart") wrote the teleplay, with Cilla Ware ("The Strange Case of Sherlock Holmes & Arthur Conan Doyle") directing.

The miniseries will also star Carsten Norgaard ("Rita," "Common Law"), who will play Kosinski, Russia's manipulative defense minister who sees a potential war with Europe as an opportunity to reach his ambition of becoming the next Russian president.

"Air Force One Is Down" is being produced by Cedros Productions and Fringilla Productions (Ingenious Media) in the U.K. and Lynx Productions in Luxembourg.
