Jimmy Kimmel Ridicules Sean Spicer for Considering 5-Year-Old Boy a Security Threat (Video)

“What’s he gonna do? Tinker toys?” ABC late-night host says

On Monday night, the late-night hosts took to the airwaves to discuss the second wave of weekend protests against Donald Trump, these being aimed at his recent refugee ban. On ABC, Jimmy Kimmel discussed how airports in nearly every major U.S. city were overloaded with protesters demanding that refugees be released from detainment.

“That’s when you know people are mad,” he quipped. “It’s Sunday, they have no travel plans, and they’re going to the airport!”

Among those from the predominantly Muslim countries on Trump’s list who were on their way to America when the order was signed was a 5-year-old boy who ended up being detained for hours. Though he was a U.S. citizen, he was handcuffed because his mother, who was waiting for him at the terminal, was born in Iran.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tried to defend the situation by saying, “That’s why we slow [the process] down a little. To make sure that if they are a 5-year-old, that maybe they’re with their parents and they don’t pose a threat. But to assume that just because of someone’s age or gender or whatever that they don’t pose a threat would be misguided and wrong.”

But Kimmel wasn’t having any of it.

“Yeah, unless they’re five years old!” the comedian retorted. “What’s he gonna do? Tinker toys?”
