Joe Biden Will Skip CNN’s First Democratic Presidential Debate

Vice president extending his deadline to decide on potential candidacy to late October

Vice President Joe Biden will not participate in CNN’s first Democratic presidential debate on Oct. 13.

CNN reported Biden has extended his own deadline to decide on a presidential run until the second half of October.

As Biden continues to waver over whether to run, many Democrats close to him feel he will ultimately decide against it.

As TheWrap previously reported, CNN’s debate criteria would’ve allowed him to jump into the debate as late as the day of it.

Biden’s potential entry into the race sets up an interesting political and media storyline. As NBC’s “Meet the Press” moderator suggested to TheWrap, a Biden entry will cause some candidates to get lost in the shuffle.

“Who gets lost in that shuffle?” Todd told TheWrap in a wide-ranging interview. “Does it keep frontrunners in place or make it harder for somebody sitting in single digits? Does it affect Donald Trump or does it solidify him at the top for awhile?”
