Joe Scarborough Calls Out MSNBC Again: ‘Looking Forward to Us Leading News’ With Christie (Video)

“Morning Joe” co-host subtly pokes at his network on not covering positive news surrounding New Jersey Governor Chris Christie

For a conservative, Joe Scarborough sure takes some liberal risks against his own network.

The MSNBC “Morning Show” co-host has called out his own network’s coverage in the past, and did so again Monday, this time on whether it would dedicate as much attention to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie being cleared by the New Jersey state legislature of any wrongdoing in the 2013 “Bridgegate” scandal.

“I actually turned on TV because I was expecting to see people that had been talking about it for eight months straight to say guess what, nothing came of it,” Scarborough said. “They actually found breaking news to make up: ‘Chris Christie may be responsibility for a meteor shower’ or something.”

Scarborough was lodging a not so subtle dig at his MSNBC colleagues, who of all cable news networks, covered the George Washington Bridge lane closures–and the possible connection to Christie–wall to wall in the fall of 2013.

John Heilemann, where does Chris Christie go to get his reputation back?” Scarborough asked panelist and Bloomberg TV host John Heilemann.

“I’m looking forward to the 8 weeks of nonstop, breathless coverage–eh ha eh ha (Scarborough panting like a dog)–do something to it,” Scarborough joked.

“OK, too in the weeds,” co-host Mika Brzezinski responded.
