John Oliver Blames Oprah for the Rise of Trump (Video)

“It’s like ‘The Secret’ was real and it worked for one person and unfortunately, it was him,” the comedian says of POTUS

John Oliver stopped by “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Monday and jokingly blamed the rise of Donald Trump on one person: Oprah Winfrey.

“He’s always acted like the most powerful man in the world. That’s how he carries himself,” Oliver said. “It’s like ‘The Secret’ was real and it worked for one person and unfortunately, it was him.”

Meyers pointed out that self-help book by Rhonda Byrne, “The Secret,” was heavily promoted by Winfrey. The book claims that positive thinking can create life-changing results.

“What I’m saying is, Trump is Oprah’s fault,” Oliver said before joking that Trump “willed” his way into the White house.

On Sunday night, HBO’s “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” returned for a new season and didn’t waste any time making up for lost time with a flurry of attacks on President Trump — chief among them, that POTUS “has made it clear that reality is not important to him.”

“He’s exaggerated the size of his inauguration crowd, said the election was marred by mass voter fraud with no real proof of that, he also falsely claimed that compared to Muslims it was almost impossible for Christian refugees from Syria to get into the U.S.,” Oliver said, in kicking off his Trump bashing segment. “He even lied about the weather during his inauguration.”
