John Oliver Gets Heated While Tearing Apart Donald Trump’s Campaign (Video)

“Last Week Tonight” host also asks viewers to refer to candidate by the name “Donald Drumpf” from now on

John Oliver got fired up while ripping into Donald Trump on Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight.”

“Donald Trump is America’s back mole,” Oliver said. “It may have seemed harmless a year ago but now that it has gotten frighteningly bigger it is no longer wise to ignore it.”

Oliver then went on to pick apart reasons people like Donald Trump, like believing him to be honest, and his business success.

Oliver pointed out that Politifact has currently rated a vast majority of statement made by Trump on the campaign as false in some way. “‘I’m rich. I tell the truth’ has the same internal logic as ‘I’m a vegan, therefore I know karate,’” Oliver said.

He then tore into several of Trump’s failed businesses, including Trump Steaks, Trump Magazine, Trump’s travel agency and Trump’s mortgage company. He also looked at Trump’s claim that he “never settles” lawsuits, despite settling on two failed building projects.

Oliver also decimated Trump for his “wildly inconsistent positions” on a number of issues. “He’s been pro-choice and pro-life, for and against assault weapon bans, in favor of bringing in Syrian refugees and deporting them out of the country,” he said. “And that inconsistency can be troubling.”

Oliver said that Trump has spent years building his name into a personal brand with himself as a mascot, making the name Trump synonymous with success. But citing a biography of Trump’s family, Oliver pointed out that the Trump family name was originally Drumpf.

Oliver wrapped up by saying that he encourages his viewers to refer to Trump as Drumpf from now on, as Drumpf sounds like “a litigious serial liar with a string of broken business ventures and the support of  a former Klan leader who he can’t decide whether or not to condemn.”
