John Stamos was incredibly candid during his conversation with Howard Stern on Monday morning.

“I really don’t have anything to hide anymore,” the “Grandfathered” star told the shock jock on his SiriusXM radio show, as he opened up about his recent battle with addiction and subsequent legal troubles.

Stamos admitted that he was “embarrassed” about his DUI arrest last year but said that the fallout was a wake up call for him especially coming soon after the death of this mother.

“I could have hurt somebody. It was really stupid and ignorant of me and I hated myself for that,” he said. “It was time to go.”

The 52-year-old actor was given three years probation last November in connection with his June 2015 arrest. He was also ordered to attend 52 Alcoholics Anonymous/Substance Abuse meetings and undergo two hours of drug and alcohol counseling. He had faced six months in jail.

While stopping drinking after he went into rehab was “not a problem,” quitting the sleep aid Ambien was a lot harder.

“I’m so happy to be off that,” the “Fuller House” actor revealed. “[Ambien is] super dangerous. … My memory was starting to get really f–ked up too from that. … [It was] difficult to memorize scripts, I couldn’t remember names and faces and things. That was the hardest thing to kick, by the way. Booze, that happened. Ambien was tough.”

However, perhaps Stamos’ most surprising revelation to Stern was that he got a woman pregnant when he was in his late 20s and she ended up having an abortion.

“I’m careful and I have been careful,” he explained. “This was just bad timing. It really wasn’t my choice. … I think it was sort of a mutual decision.”
