Jon Stewart Moderates Epic Congressional War of Words Between Texas and Florida (Video)

The “Daily Show” host also doubled-down on his own Mitch McConnell turtle references

To steal a joke from Jon Stewart, Florida Democrat Alcee Hastings did exactly what you aren’t supposed to do to Texas: He messed with it.

At yet another hearing on an attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act — a.k.a. Obamacare — the aforementioned House of Representatives member from the Sunshine State called his Republican colleague from the Lonestar State out for being from a “crazy state.”

“I don’t know about in your state — which I think is a crazy state to begin with — and I mean that just as I said it,” Hastings shot back to Texas rep Michael Burgess, while the latter was mid-thought.

“I wouldn’t live there for all the tea in China,” Hastings added later about Texas.

Burgess demanded an apology — but he didn’t quite get one from his fellow southern gentleman. Readers can interpret the use of that term as loosely or strictly as they’d like.

“You will wait until hell freezes over,” the calm Floridian quipped.

“We are run by children,” Stewart concluded on the mess.

Earlier in the segment, the “Daily Show” host spent quite a bit of time ramping up his regular comparison of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to a common turtle.

The comedian had some good zingers this time, referencing a koopa troopa villain from the “Super Mario Bros.” videogames and even pulling out a delectable piece of leafy green lettuce out to tempt the politician out of his shell.
