Julie Rapaport has left the Weinstein Company and joined Amazon Studios as a development executive in its feature film department, TheWrap has learned.

Rapaport most recently served as senior VP of production and development at the Weinstein Company, where she oversaw films such as John Wells’ “August: Osage County” and “Burnt” starring Bradley Cooper, as well as Tim Burton’s “Big Eyes,” Phillip Noyce’s “The Giver” and the period drama “Tulip Fever.”

Rapaport started her career as an intern at Walden Media before landing a job in the William Morris mailroom in New York City. Her first big break was working as an assistant for David Glasser, former president and COO of the Weinstein Company.

Rapaport joins Amazon on the heels of former Variety critic Scott Foundas, who Ted Hope recently hired as a film acquisitions and development executive. She has a solid reputation in the development community and her hiring is another coup for Amazon.
